Asarum magnificum is one of the most beautiful and highly prized of the Chinese wild gingers, and this special selection that we named Asarum 'Silver Cheeks' comes from Georgia's Asian plant guru, Ozzie Johnson. The large, thick evergreen leaves are dark green and patterned with a large silver streak on each half of the leaf. Starting in late March (NC), you can't help but notice the clusters of black-purple flowers with a wrinkled white throat poking out from between the foliage. Asarum magnificum 'Silver Cheeks' is an easy-to-grow clump-former that makes a superb specimen plant in the woodland garden.
