Arisaema thunbergii ssp. thunbergii is an easy-to-grow Japanese cobra lily that features a 2' green stalk that supports a horseshoe-shaped, 9-17 leaflet leaf off to the side. Topping the petiole (stalk) is a greenish purple pitcher with a top that arches over the pitcher. The spadix (club) of Arisaema thunbergii ssp. thunbergii emerges from inside the pitcher as an 18" long rubberized, twisted thread that dangles in front of the pitcher... very bizarre. The only difference between this and Arisaema thunbergii ssp. urashima is a tiny difference in the spadix throat.
