Arisaema intermedium is a Himalayan Jack-in-the-pulpit that grows in lightly forested slopes between 8,000 and 12,000' elevation. Arisaema intermedium emerges with a quilted green trifoliate leaf, showing its close relation to Arisaema costatum and Arisaema speciosum. Arisaema intermedium emerges in early spring with a green spathe occasionally flushed in purple. The spathe has a 6" long thread-like tip, but nothing to compare to the spadix with its 3' long twisted threadlike appendage It's actually quite unusual for both the spathe and spadix to have long tongues. Arisaema intermedium prefers cooler night temperatures, good drainage and moderately moist soils....if you have these, give Arisaema intermedium a try.
