(syn: A. chaplinei) This dwarf southwest native (West Texas and New Mexico) is one of our favorite columbines, although it's not listed in any books. The lacy blue-green foliage is very finely divided, complimenting the dainty clouds of delicate buttery yellow flowers that hover just above the clump during late spring. Being a native of very dry climates, a dry well-drained spot in the garden is essential...a perfect rock garden candidate.
