Andropogon glaucopsis 'Carolina Blue' is a 2026 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of an exceptional, but virtually unknown native ornamental grass. Despite its natural range along the Southeastern US coastal plain, it's suffered in taxonomic purgatory for decades, being incorrectly assigned to both Andropogon virginicus and Andropogon glomeratus. Naturally growing in average to moist soils, it forms chalky blue clumps to 2' tall x 3' wide. In late summer, the sturdy flower stalks extend upward to 4', and finally topped, in fall, with a lovely show of tan plumes, which hold most of the winter, even after the foliage also ages to tan.
