One of the hardiest and most stunning alocasia we grow is a plant we got from a grower in India years ago as Alocasia macrorrhizos, which it isn't. So, we assumed it must be Alocasia cucullata and have offered it as such, but as it grew we realized it's not that either. Now, we're pretty sure it's a hybrid between Alocasia odora and possibly A. cucullata. What we do know is that it's the best alocasia for perennializing in our region, so we've given it the name Alocasia 'Architexture'. The 6' tall x 4' wide upright clump of bold, heavily-textured dark green leaves is architecturally and texturally stunning...hence the name. Slightly moist, organically rich soils produce the largest plants.
