From Joe Halinar of Oregon comes this cute little seedling selection of A. senescens var. montanum) (not A. tanguticum), that has adorned our rock garden for 8+ years, while other weedy cousins have been banished to the great compost pile in the sky. Finally, we are delighted to share this favorite with other gardeners. The flat, glossy green leaves form a tight clump similar to A. senescens, although taller. From early June through early July, the clumps are topped with 1' tall flower stalks, ending in 2.5" wide flower heads of a dusty blue-violet (RHS 86B). For us, this has produced no seedlings in our garden...hooray!
