Agave x yavapaiensis 'Verde Valley' is a recently named (2013) century plant from central Arizona, which represents a population that has speciated after the Pre-Columbian people brought their tribal agaves from Mexico to the US, where they hybridized with the native Agave chrysantha. Agave x yavapaiensis matures into 2' tall x 3' wide, glaucous blue, rarely-offsetting clumps. There are only a small number of populations, and these ancient hybrids tend to be rather poor at setting viable seed. Our plants were seed grown from the Verde Valley population.
