Agave weberi 'Stone Cold Austin'

Agave 'Stone Cold Austin' is a 2026 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a stunning selection of the typically tender Agave weberi that was spotted by plantsman Patrick McMillan growing outdoors in a Zone 8, Austin, Texas landscape. Agave weberi is a Northern Mexico endemic, but anthropogenic populations are also found throughout southern Texas. Plants propagated by Patrick have been growing outdoors, unprotected, at the South Carolina Botanical Garden in Clemson for a decade, including 9 degrees F in 2014, reaching epic proportions of 5' tall x 10' wide. The smooth-edged glaucous blue leaves composed the slowly offsetting rosette. In the colder parts of Zone 8, it will not tolerate winter moisture.
