Agave x striphantha 'Band on the Run' is a 2018 Plant Delights Nursery introduction of a seed strain developed here at Juniper Level Botanic Garden from a 2013 cross between the wide-leaved Agave lophantha 'Band Aid' and the narrow leaved Agave striata. We didn't get a large number of true hybrids from the cross, so this offering is extremely limited. Our oldest plants are now 2' tall x 4' wide, composed of rather limber green arching leaves, most with a faint central stripe...truly unique in the century plant world. Since the Agave striata parent doesn't die after flowering, it will be interesting to see how the hybrid performs. So far, these have been very slow to produce a limited number of offsets.
