This hard-to-find Mexican species calls a small region (up to 8000' elevation, in Coahuila, Mexico) "home." Because of this high elevation, it has proven to be reliably hardy since 2001 in our hardiness trials. The tightly held blue leaves make an artichoke-like, non-offsetting clump to 18" tall x 2' wide. We find good drainage to be very important in areas with high rainfall...slope planting is very advantageous. We wish more of these aliens would sneak across the border...supplies for now are very limited...support a workable guest-plant program.
