Aconitum sinomontanum 'Sacred Tower' is an amazing 2016 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of our selected form of a southern China native monkshood that we prize both for its garden appearance and vigor in our brutal heat and humidity...a trait not often found in the genus aconitum. Aconitum sinomontanum 'Sacred Tower' produces 6' tall stalks, clothed with thick, deeply-cut foliage on the bottom 4' of the stalk. The top 2' of each stalk is stacked with flowers...up to 100 (yes, we counted) large 1.5" blue-lavender flowers...an absolutely stunning display. The stalks are sturdy until all the flowers open in October, at which time they benefit from a nearby support to remain vertical.
