This hybrid between A. spinosus and A. mollis make spectacular specimen plants for the light shade garden. The large bold textured black green basal leaves are deeply serrated with finger piercing armor along the entire leaf. In late summer, the 4' wide clumps are topped with incredible space needle like flower stalks bursting with purple and white pea like flowers. In flower, it is so stunning that you will completely forget about the spines....until you try to pick the flowers..
