Despite the common name, you will not rue the day that you chose a thalictrum. Thalictrum is a perennial, deer-resistant, butterfly-attracting wildflower that provides an airy texture to contrast with the bold elements of the perennial garden.
Thalictrum flowers are wispy and cloud-like. The overall effect is quite striking and all the more fascinating since they have no petals! The flowers are actually just a collection of naked male and female plant sex organs on display for the world to see (shock!).
Thalictrum (Meadow Rue) Growing Conditions
Thalictrum is tolerant of a wide range of growing conditions, depending on the species. However, meadow rue plants generally prefer an evenly moist, well-drained, high-humus soil to ensure their best performance.
