More Information About Spigelia
Spigelia is amazingly tolerant of a wide range of conditions, from sun to shade, moist to dry, and rich soils to poor...although it performs best in afternoon shade with a good loose garden soil and regular watering. Although it is difficult to root cuttings, Spigelia is easy to propagate from seed and will seed around the garden if conditions warrant.
Spigelia (Indian Pink) in the Garden
Spigelia looks best when planted in large drifts so that the flowers can be enjoyed en masse. Gardeners can combine spigelia with other hot colors like Liriope 'Pee Dee Ingot', Echinacea 'Maui Sunshine', or Belamcanda chinensis 'Hello Yellow'.
