More Information About Pavonia
Pavonia is a wonderful genus of 270 mostly tropical species of mallows. A few of the species, notably Pavonia hastata and Pavonia lasiopetala have become popular temperate zone garden plants in recent years. Pavonia sports a typical mallow flower in white or pink, but much smaller than its more popular cousin, hibiscus. Most pavonia reseed well, so locate them appropriately.
Although most mallows are known for being swamp plants, Pavonia lasiopetala is quite drought-tolerant.
Pavonia is in the mallow family which includes other popular garden plants. Check out all the mallows here.
