More Information About Orostachys
Like sedum or sempervivum, Orostachys is a drought tolerant succulent and as such is a great rock garden plant or container plant as long as it has well drained soil. In the far east, Orostachys can sometimes be found naturally growing on rooftops and on mossy tree trunks...a tribute to the toughness of the genus. Orostachys plants are monocarpic which means that they die after flowering, but they also produce vegetative offsets so that the clump continues to live on.
