More Information About Laurentia
Laurentia is a genus of low-growing herbaceous groundcover plants native to North America, southern Europe, southern Africa, the West Indies, and Australia. Because of this discontinuous range, taxonomists are divided on the number of species in Laurentia (I'd like to find some undivided taxonomists some day). Many members of laurentia have been split off into other genera including isotoma, porterella, palmerella, solenopsis, wimmerella, and pratia.
Using Laurentia in the Garden
Laurentia is in the Campanulaceae family and is closely related to Lobelia. The species we offer ( Laurentia fluviatilis) is a native Australian creeping groundcover that is perfect for growing as a low traffic lawn substitute, between stepping stones, or spilling over the edge of a container or wall.
Growing and Caring for Laurentia
Laurentia fluviatilis prefers full sun, consistent moisture and rich organic soil. Don't confuse this blue star with our other bluestar for sale, amsonia.
