More Information About Asphodelus
Asphodelus is native to Europe, Africa and the Middle East where it has long been associated with death and the underworld...cited in poetry, novels and often planted on graves. The dried tubers were used to make bread, glue, and as a remedy for snake bite. One eclectic perennial!
Choose a sunny spot for your asphodelus in a well-drained area such as a mixed perennial border or rock garden. Lean soils are not a problem for this tough, rabbit-resistant and drought-tolerant plant. Asphodelus can be a generous seeder so you may want to deadhead after the blooms fade.
