The Mexican Zephyranthes macrosiphon is quite similar to the more familiar Zephyranthes grandiflora, except that the flower is slightly smaller (only 2-3", compared to 3-4" for Z. grandiflora, the flowering stalk is taller, and the stigma is shorter than the anthers). The short, flat green foliage is hardly noticed until summer, when the clumps burst forth with 14" tall stems topped with wide, open, rich rosy flowers. A mass of the easy-to-grow Zephyranthes macrosiphon is an absolute stunner in the summer garden, with a flowering cycle that starts after rains beginning in early July.
