Yucca elata var. radiosa is a rare variety of this striking and easy-to-grow species. We traveled to the Jefferson Davis Mountains in west Texas where we collected seed of this species at 6,000' elevation. Yucca elata var. radiosa produces a fine head of narrow blue-green leaves. Once the plants reach about 4-5 years old, they are topped yearly with a dramatic 2' tall spike of white bell-shaped flowers. Good drainage is helpful for growing Yucca elata.
