(aka: Vigethia mexicana T72-45) Vigethia mexicana is a little known deciduous perennial DYC (damn yellow composite) that hails from northern Mexico. This Yucca Do/Carl Schoenfeld 1997 collection at 4,400' in the mountains just south of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon has prospered in our NC Garden since 2000. After having so many visitors ask about it, we've finally propagated a few to share. For us, Vigethia mexicana makes a very attractive 4' tall x 5' wide clump of stalks, adorned with 6" long fuzzy green foliage, topped with terminal clusters of 2" soft yellow flowers from June through October. In appearance, it resembles a summer flowering phlomis.
