    I first found this dazzling Texas native in a dry former road bed in the Hill Country west of San Antonia, Texas. The elegant narrow green foliage makes an attractive 2' tall x 2' wide clump. In mid summer the clump is topped first with hundreds of magnificent silvery buds on each flower head that open gradually to reveal the lavender flowers. Not that the flowers are disappointing, but I'd grow this strictly for the buds...pretty darn spectacular!
