Trithrinax brasiliensis a little known palm, found in open forests from 2,500'-3,500' elevation in Southern Brazil (Rio Grande du Sol) and Uruguay. Since we've been thrilled with the performance of many cacti from the same region, we thought it worth giving the palm a try. Our offering are extras we grew from seed, and boy, are they slow! Once they mature, the armed trunks actually start dropping their spines. Trithrinax brasiliensis, at 20' tall, is slightly smaller than Trithinax acanthocoma. The leaves are also much more dissected and more glaucous than Trithrinax acanthacoma. When mature, you'll enjoy the attractive white inflorescense. Slightly acidic to slightly alkaline soils are best. This is a one time offer, if you want to try them along with us.
