We have been thrilled at the performance of the little-known white-flowered form of the Mexican shell flower, Tigridia pavonia 'Alba Immaculata'. While the Dutch grown tigridias have shown no winter hardiness for us, Tigridia 'Alba Immaculata' sailed through our cold, single digit F winter of 2013/2014 without a blink. The narrow, upright 30" tall stalks are topped with large, white, goblet-shaped flowers starting in early August (NC). Tigridia pavonia 'Alba Immaculata' also offsets like crazy, so you'll soon have plenty to share with gardening friends.
