Thanks to our friend, Ozzie Johnson, for sharing this splendid and easy to grow Japanese woodland native. From a winter rosette, the wiry stems clothed with small, scalloped, green leaves, arise to make an upright arching clump to 18"' wide. From midsummer until frost, the tops of the clumps are topped with small, purple, cup-like flowers. A moist to average garden soil would be perfect for this easy to grow gem. Once strobilanthes is established, it begins to naturalize in the immediate area... great mixed with ferns for a touch of color!
