Silphium radula has become one the most requested stalwarts in our summer perennial border. The thick white-haired stems rise to 5-6' tall, clothed by equally hairy triangular green leaves. Topping this hunk in July are hundreds of 2-3" wide bright yellow daisies. As long as the soil isn't too rich or wet, rosinweed remains quite vertical. Too rich or too much to drink and...well, you know it's hard to remain vertical when indulging too much. Thanks to the folks at Yucca Do for sharing this amazing Southeast native.
