I fell in love with the Crimean native Seseli gummiferum when I visited the Denver Botanic Garden in 2013. Although moon carrot is a biennial/short-lived perennial, we just had to share. The lacy silver-blue foliage of Seseli gummiferum resembles a compact Artemisia 'Powis Castle', topped in summer with 30" tall spikes that emerge like a white Queen Anne's Lace, but then morph to a mauvy pink. In the wild, Seseli gummiferum grows above 3,000' elevation in rocky alkaline soils in Crimea, Turkey, and the Aegean Islands, but it's enjoyed both our 300' elevation and amended loam so far...the key is well-drained soils.
