(syn: S. kostovii) This high elevation sedum makes a tight clump of tiny needles, each ending in tiny hairs (hyaline papillae). In summer, the clump turns a brilliant red, which is hidden only in spring when the clumps are topped with dense clusters of brilliant yellow flowers. Ray Stephenson, author of Sedum Cultivated Stonecrops, describes it as "extremely floriferous". A well drained site is essential for good winter survival.
