(aka: Andropogon glauca) How about a native, blue-foliaged grass that loves summer heat and humidity? Selected by Kurt Bluemel and named by Dale Hendricks, S. scoparium 'The Blues' makes an 18" wide clump of narrow, flat, powder-blue foliage to 1' tall x 1 1/2' wide. In late summer, the narrow wispy plumes rise to 3' tall. As the nights cool, the blue foliage turns to a gorgeous russet-red and the stems become willowy...great when used in a mass planting!
