Sarracenia x courtii is the rarely seen, naturally occurring, gulf coast hybrid of Sarracenia purpurea and Sarracenia psittacina, named after 19th century Veitch Nursery carnivorous plant breeder, William Court. Sarracenia x courtii is one of the shortest and widest growing pitcher plants, producing horizontal rosy red pitchers, each topped with parrot head tops. The pitcher heads come from the Sarracenia psittacina parent, while the form and orientation comes from both parents, and Sarracenia purpurea adds additional winter hardiness.
