(AKA S. bartramii) Sabatia decandra is another of those wonderful native swamp pink gentians... this one native from south Georgia to Mississippi. Similar to S. kennedyana, the basal rosettes of oval green foliage burst upwards in spring to 2'. In midsummer, the stalks are topped with clusters of brilliant, hot pink flowers with a dramatic yellow eye. This short lived perennial grows best in very moist to boggy soils in good light.
