This trunk-forming palm, which is rarely seen in gardens, is the Mexican equivalent to our native Sabal palmetto. Our offerings are grown from seed collected in Soto de La Marina in Tamaulipas, Mexico. We have had these out for one winter and at 8 degrees F, the foliage burned back slightly, but all plants survived. These are often sold as Sabal x texensis, which we consider the Brazoria Co., TX selection, which suffers no dieback in Zone 7b.
