Ruellia 'Oh What A Feeling'

One night under the cover of darkness, our native Ruellia caroliniana had an unprotected rendezvous with the Mexican native Ruellia brittoniana 'Katie'. The BIO (botanical interest only) offspring form a 2' wide x 2' tall clump of fuzzy, green leaves, held opposite each other along the upright stems. The clumps are topped with sparse, 1" blue flowers in the morning, but the cool parts of the plant are the unusual bracts that form in the leaf axils from early summer until fall. Unlike both parents, it appears that the offspring is completely sterile.
