Rhodophiala bifida 'Red Baron' is our 2020 introduction of a fascinating seed strain of oxblood lily that we got from California's Bill the Bulb Baron. Rhodophiala 'Red Baron' is a cross of the typical Rhodophiala bifida with the less hardy, but larger, scarlet-orange flowering Rhodophiala bifida ssp. granatiflora. The result is a wonderful seed strain that adds a bit of scarlet florescence to the typically dark red flowers in late summer or early fall as the 15" stalks arise from nowhere.
