Punica granatum 'Toyosho' is a Japanese selection of pomegranate that has performed amazingly well for us in the garden since 2002. The narrow, 15' tall shrub is clothed with small, glossy green, deciduous leaves and adorned from midsummer until early fall with 3" wide, double peachy-apricot flowers that resemble the old boutonniere carnations...to those who will admit their age. Punica 'Toyosho' is grown for its flowers and not for the fruit, which is quite sparse on this selection.
