Since we had such good luck with growing Pteris cretica from our Chinese collection, I thought we would see how it performs from other parts of its range. We collected these spores from 6,500' elevation on the drive to the top of Haleakala Crater on the Hawaiian island of Maui. The form is typical of P. cretica, but the leaves are much darker green than normal. This will be our first winter with these in the ground, so try this one along with us. So far, many Hawaiian endemics have proven to be surprisingly winter-hardy. Supplies from this collection are very limited.
