(aka: Thelypteris penangiana) Pronephrium penangianum is an amazing, tropical-looking fern that's one of the most exciting ferns we've grown in quite a while. The prehistoric-looking 5' long fronds emerge from a creeping rhizome that forms a 6' wide patchn 10 years. The deciduous Pronephrium penangianum hails from forested streamsides from 3,000' to 10,000' elevation, from Kashmir through south central China. Our results in both moist and average moisture garden sites have been equal. If we haven't given you enough reason to try one, what if I told you it's also used medicinally in China to treat irregular menstruation? Would that help?
