Polianthes x bundrantii 'Chirp' is a Thad Howard selection of the natural hybrid of Polianthes howardii and the florist tuberose, Polianthes tuberosa. Polianthes 'Chirp' produces 30" tall stalks of widely-spaced, small, dusky red, outfacing, tubular flowers with orange centers in July and August (NC)...a hummingbird favorite. Although the flowers aren't large, Polianthes x bundrantii 'Chirp' actually makes a very nice show in the summer rock garden. Light green rubbery basal leaves anchor the clump.
