This Don Jacob's selection of our native woodland phlox (aka Wild Phlox) sports an attractive five petalled pinwheel like violet purple (RHS 82A) flowers with a red violet eye, atop 1' tall stems, beginning in early April in NC. This is a color break from the normal P. divaricata, which is more often a fragrant sky blue. Once the flowers fade, the flat evergreen foliage makes an nice mat that will remain for the rest of the season. We find that woodland phlox makes a much more attractive and floriferous clump when grown in a bit more sun.
