This is a vigorous, but slowly spreading, Japanese selection of mondo grass with dramatic vertical, white striping throughout the leaves. When used in a woodland as a groundcover, it works well to lighten a dark area. All of the plants that we have seen sold as O. japonicus 'Variegatus' are this cultivar.
