Oenothera riparia is a little-known Southeastern US native, found growing in freshwater swamps from Virginia south to South Carolina. In the garden, it thrives in regular to moist garden soils, where it forms a 3' tall x 3' wide deciduous clump, adorned in June/July with sparse, small yellow flowers. Oenothera riparia is host to an array of native butterflies, moths, and bees. Our offering is cutting grown from a specimen from Colleton County, SC.
