Here is a really wierd one. This unusual member of the onion family grows from a bulb that remains dormant until mid-June. Once the bulb breaks dormancy, expect the long, lax, blue-green onion like foliage to emerge and look rather undistinguished. So, you are probably wondering why you should buy this bulb. Well in late summer or early fall, a flowering stalk emerges that is simply delightful. The 3-4' tall spike is topped with Queen Anne's Lace-like heads. Each head is composed of exquisite silver dollar-sized tuberose-fragranced flowers that open at night to perfume the garden.
