Mangave 'Aztec King' is a new Hans Hansen/Walters Gardens creation combining the genes from Agave ovatifolia, Agave x pseudoferox, and an unknown Mexican manfreda species to create an amazing specimen. For us, the 2' tall x 5' wide solitary clump has glaucous blue foliage with strong undertones of purple. Our oldest clumps have been in the ground since 2020, enduring 11 degrees F so far. Because of the manfreda blood, it tends to show some cold damage on the lower foliage because one third of the parentage is a dormant species.
