(aka: Lycoris x houdyshelii) Lycoris x straminea 'Caldwell's Original', a 2015 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction is an absolutely superb selection of the naturally occurring hybrid of Lycoris radiata x Lycoris chinensis. 'Caldwell's Original' bursts out of the ground in mid-August with 26" tall chartreuse stalks, each bearing 6-8 frilly, creamy yellow flowers that take on a pink cast as they age...very showy! The October sprouting foliage holds up extremely well through the winter as though it isn't even cold...unlike any other Lycoris x straminea clones we grow. Consequently, flowering is extremely good each summer...a truly superb surprise lily.
