Lycoris x sprenguinea 'Momozono' is a rather rare Japanese hybrid of two spring-leaved surprise lily species, the pink and blue flowered Lycoris sprengeri and the bright orange flowered Lycoris sanguinea. This rendevous produced a most unusual surprise lily that emerges for us in mid July August with 18" tall stalks, topped with rich salmon-colored flowers, tipped with blue...a most unusual combination. After flowering, all growth activity remains underground until the foliage emerges, starting in mid-February. Unlike Lycoris sanguinea, which rarely flowers in our climate, Lycoris 'Momozono' is a reliable bloomer.
