Lycoris 'Blue Bell' is a 2021 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a superb form of the Chinese Lycoris sprengeri that we selected from a 2009 shipment of bulbs from China coordinated by plantsman Jim Waddick. Of the bulbs we flowered, this was by far the best blue form of Lycoris sprengeri that we'd ever seen. For us, Lycoris sprengeri 'Blue Bell' typically flowers early to mid-August atop 22" tall spikes. The flowers emerge a rich blue color with undertones of pink, that become more prominent as the flowers age. After flowering, the bulb remains dormant until late-February (NC), when the foliage emerges, providing the bulb with next years nourishment. It's taken us twelve years to build up enough stock to share from our single original bulb.
