Lycoris x rosea 'Glenn Dale Cherry Charm' is 2021 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a Margot Williams hybrid, created in the 1970s when she worked for USDA. These surprise lily hybrids were assumed to be lost, but it turns out Margot passed them to a friend for safe keeping, only to have them re-emerge over 40 years later, when we acquired an entire collection. These have since been evaluated and a few named to release. Lycoris x rosea 'Glenn Dale Cherry Charm' produces 20" tall stalks, starting for us in early August. Each stalk is topped with up to nine spidery flowers, hot pink with dramatic blue tips. The narrow green leaves emerge in fall.
