Lycoris 'Red China' is a 2010 Plant Delights Nursery introduction from a batch of lycoris that we originally got from China in 2003. These Lycoris radiata var. pumila represent different genetics from the plants typically offered for sale in the US. Lycoris 'Red China' is a mid to late August (NC) cherry-red flowering strain that produces 26" tall green stalks, topped with clusters of 5-6 very narrow-petalled spidery orange red flowers. After flowering, these red surprise lilies rest until the narrow strap-like green leaves emerge in mid-September.
