We are pleased to introduce an amazing late-flowered selection of the popular Lycoris radiata. This commonly grown species has a wide range of flowering times, from July into October, depending on the clone. This is the latest flowering form that we've seen, discovered on our 2003 botanizing trip to Louisiana, where we found it growing in the woods near what was probably an old homestead. For us, Lycoris 'Louisiana Lately' starts flowering in late September and continues into early October...almost two months after the more typical forms in commerce. The 2' tall stalks end in clusters of scarlet red flower heads and appear sans foliage, which emerges just after flowering.
